Thermal barrier, Vapor barrier and Radiant barrier. R 15.67 - R 21 (details: "Technical data" tab below). This insulation product reduces heating and cooling costs. Reflective aluminum foil on each side of a 5mm closed-cell polyethylene foam center. Ideal for hot and cold climates. Read customer reviews to left on page.
Unlike fiberglass insulation, Prodex Total contains no itchy fibers to breathe or cause skin irritation. Unlike fiberglass insulation, Prodex Total is unaffected by humidity or water and it doesn't mildew or promote fungus growth.
Unlike Bubble Insulation, Prodex doesn't lose R value over time. Prodex seals once its fastened, screwed or stapled. The polyethylene micro-bubbles do not collapse with temperature changes.

Prodex Total 72 Inch combines the benefits of a radiant barrier, thermal break (R-value) and vapor barrier. That means you'll have a cool, dry structure in summer and a warm, dry structure in winter. This insulation size is ideal for larger projects. It is used as a stand-alone or supplemental insulation. It is ICC-ES Recognized, ENERGY STAR qualified and is eligible for the 2009-2010 Tax Credit. It reflects 97% of radiant heat (the primary source of heat flow). Prodex works well in HOT and COLD climates. Other benefits of Prodex include sound deadening and easy installation. Reflective aluminum foil on each side of a 5mm closed-cell polyethylene foam center.
Prodex was named "Best Insulation", Metal Building Category. RIMA EE.UU
A metal building insulation system requires a vapor barrier, thermal break, and radiant heat barrier. The metal skin causes sweating (condensation), unbearable heat in summer and frigid temperatures in winter. Prodex serves a true vapor barrier and condensation eliminator, a high r-value (thermal break) and number one performing radiant heat barrier.
It is superior to fiberglass batt in metal buildings and pole barns because it is unaffected by humidity or water, it doesn't mildew or promote fungus growth and it adds a radiant barrier to keep the building cool in the summer. It is also much easier and less expensive to install. It is superior to double bubble insulation in metal buildings because the heat of the metal skin doesn't cause its polyethylene micro-bubbles to collapse.

Technical Data Prodex Total Insulation
ICC-ES Recognized #ESR-2350 and Energy Star Qualified
| * 1/2-inch to 3-inch airspace recommended for optimal performance. The above testing consisted of applying Prodex with an airspace of 2.64 inch on each side of product. Test method ASTM 1116. Interior side of product was exposed. 2 x 6 wood assembly 24 Inch. |

Compliance with the following codes: 2006 International Building Code (IBC)
2006 International Residential Code (IRC)
1997 Uniform Building Code (UBC)
Properties Evaluated:
Thermal Resistance
Surface-burning characteristics
Flame spread index of 25 or less and a smoke-developed index of 450 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E84 or UBC Standard 8-1.
Reflective insulation is the most effective when airspace exists between the insulation and the adjacent material. The R value of the system will vary dependent on the airspace size and the direction of the heat flow, and the conductive and convective properties of surrounding materials. We are not able to expand on the Characteristics, Values or Regulations shown in above chart. All pertinent technical information available is posted above. Please consult your local code official if concerned with an approval. |

Keeping farm animals and livestock warm in the winter and cool in the summer is of vital importance. Insulation4Less offers reflective insulation products that protect poultry houses from black-globe effect. Prodex Total Insulation is flexible, easy to install and it is a farmer's problem solver.

The Black-Globe Effect
A little known natural phenomenon called the "black-globe effect" has a pronounced stress factor relating to the cost efficiency (or inefficiency) of weight gain in meat producing animals and birds. Whether an animal is outdoors or indoors, in temperatures exceeding 78° F, it absorbs a tremendous increase in radiant energy from the sun. Although the animal may be confined to a building, the "black-globe effect" on the animal is the same as if it were actually 10 to 20° F higher than air temperature. Studies show that with the elimination of the "black-globe effect" through the use of reflective foil insulation, many improvements are immediately apparent. In the dairy industry, an increase of as much as 10% in milk production has been noted. Also noted; a conception rate improvement of nearly 24%. Broiler house feed conversions went from averages of 2.3 to 2.8 lbs. of feed per lb. of bird to a much improved 1.99 feed conversion.

Many growers are finding that their animals grow faster and more efficiently after installing Prodex Total Insulation. Death losses from heat are greatly reduced. The illustration to the right shows how an animal is heated even though the air temperature may not rise much. In winter, indoor heat is reflected back into the living space to produce greater comfort and energy savings.
There are many other good reasons to install barn insulation. While the main reason to install barn insulation is to keep indoor temperatures comfortable for both humans and livestock, properly installed barn insulation will also mitigate moisture problems and air infiltration issues. All barns, including those that are storage only, should use reflective foil insulation to control condensation as the major part of a strategy to protect the barn contents from damage.
To protect your investment in livestock, crops and equipment, use a combination of reflective aluminum insulation and ventilation to maintain consistent indoor temperatures. Use reflective building insulation in all poultry houses, dairy barns, hog barns, stables, silos, outbuildings, storage sheds, storerooms, and steel buildings.
