2. Where to Find Commercial Insulation

There are many different types of commercial insulation. There is fiberglass, high R, reflective, and rigid insulation. All commercial insulation is purchased for the purpose of keeping temperatures inside a building steady during the hot and cold seasons. Commercial insulations are typically sold in larger volumes, are built to last and are stored in an insulation warehouse.

Insulation such as rigid comes in board form and insulation such as Hi-R comes in flexible form. When installing either insulation it is essential that it be installed properly. Lack of proper installation can result in air leakage and energy loss, which would cost the homeowner more money in energy bills. Most homes in America actually aren’t insulated to the best level.

Different Types of Commercial Insulation

Here are a few types of insulation followed by a brief description:

Rigid Insulation

Rigid insulation is stiff and comes in the form of a board. The most common sizes used are eight-feet lengths in two-and four-feet widths. This insulation is commonly installed on exterior walls underneath siding or to the exterior side of foundation walls.

Reflective Insulation

Reflective insulation works differently then other insulation products. Unlike some insulation it reflects heat instead of slowing it. This type of insulation is commonly aluminum foil attached to some sort of back material. There are other types of insulation such as rigid insulation that are available with an attached reflective foil.

Prodex Insulation

Prodex is a very effective insulation product. It is commonly aluminum foil attached to a backing material. Building and homeowners who make the decision to install prodex insulation throughout their structure will decrease their monthly utility bills and increase their living comfort.

Sound Insulation

Sound insulation effectiveness differs between qualities. The best performance is generally achieved by the use of a thicker pile. Much like other insulation the thicker and denser the insulation the more effective it is. Homeowners realize that outside noise affects comfort, behavior, and concentration. That is why it is important to insulate the ceilings, walls, and floors with a material that effectively controls sound. And since noise from within the home can be equally disturbing, it is a good idea to insulate interior walls and floors - so that residents or guests can simultaneously enjoy different activities.

Batt Insulation

Batt insulation is cut to fit properly in the smaller areas of your house. Batt insulation is for areas such as wiring and plumbing and small crevices in your house. When it comes to the insulation batts must be sized correctly to fit securely at the sides and ends and not be so large as to buckle. Batt insulation should fill the cavity. Batts should also be cut to fit around wiring and plumbing.

With the purchase of any type of commercial insulation make sure that it is undamaged and in proper working order. Also make sure that you check for the R-value. Doing this can make the difference between your insulation working properly or being ineffective. If insulation doesn’t have your desired effect sometimes simply adding another layer can make the difference.
