Foil Insulation Reviews: Insulation with foil vs Prodex AD5

Prodex AD5 Insulated foil, foil single bubble wrap and foil double bubble wrap and all work in metal buildings, pole barns, and most areas of homes: attics, roofs, basements, radiant floor heating, crawl spaces, walls and garages. These products all come as foil insulation rolls. Diy Foil Barrier: All three of these insulated foils are easier and healthier for do-it-yourselfers to apply than fiberglass insulation. These foil insulation wraps  perform 3 functions: foil radiant barrier, reflective insulation and vapor barrier. Foil-back insulations block radiant heat transfer (primary source of heat flow). They are most effective when airspace exists between the foil covered insulation and the adjacent material. The R value of the system will vary dependent on the airspace size, direction of the heat flow and the conductive and convective properties of surrounding materials. Foil Insulation roll vs insulation: While other insulation types are made to resist or impede the flow of warm air, a foil house wrap, foil insulation for attic, foil wall insulation and foil insulation basement reflects back infra-red energy from the sun so it does not penetrate the structure. It can also reflect back radiant heat inside the house so it does not escape. The concept is simple: each unit of radiant heat energy that is reflected away from your home in summer and each unit reflected back inside during winter means less operation of your air conditioning and heating systems, less wear and tear on your equipment, and less money you pay in utility costs. Differences:

Prodex AD5, a foil backed foam insulation, has a high quality core that keeps it shape when exposed to forces. Under pressure, the Prodex micro-cells maintain the air and do not collapse in time. We see little difference in the photos above between foil single bubble wrap insulation and foil double bubble foil insulation. The latter simply has two layers of air bubbles (a balloon with a little extra air).

Insulation with foil costs: We have a few customers that purchase foil single bubble insulation rather than Prodex to save money. If your budget does not allow for the quality core of Prodex, we suggest you click to purchase foil single bubble insulation. You'll get virtually all the benefits of double bubble metal foil insulation while maximizing savings. We do not sell foil double bubble wrap because we weren't able to justify it's pricing relative to Prodex or single bubble foil insulation.

Foil Bubble Wrap Insulation is compose of either one (single bubble) or two (double bubble) layers of encapsulated polyethylene air bubbles sandwiched between two metalized surfaces. Foil single bubble has a nominal measurement of 5/32 inch and fiol double bubble measures 5/16". These measurements bare little resemblance to the effective measurement of the product. (Note pictures above). Prodex has a nominal thickness of 5mm (1/4") closed cell polyethylene foam sandwiched between two 99% pure aluminum, low emissivity surfaces.

Prodex dampens sounds when applied between two rigid elements. When applied in roofing applications this reduces the sound of rain fall Prodex combines elasticity and rigidness. Only high frequency sounds.

Does a Foil Only work?

Foil only, or double foil insulation (two foils stuck together with no inner substance) are no longer sold on this website, due to poor customer ratings. The product we offered was perforated and composed of two metalized surfaces with a mesh woven in for strength. Foil insulation wholesale:
