The typical pole barn kit is essentially a metal roof extended over a series of wooden poles. The poles are often covered with metal sheeting although the sheeting is not required to support the structure -- The roof is supported by the poles. The roof is usually gabled. Pole barns are often used for livestock , hay storage and riding arenas. Pole buildings are also used as residential garages because of their quick construction time and efficient use of materials.
The advantages of pole barn kits include their low cost and their ability to store large quantities of materials in areas easily accessible by vehicles, machines, and people.
You Must Insulate A Pole Barn Kit
If you're not going to spend the extra money to insulate, than we suggest you don't purchase a closed pole barn to store expensive merchandise or use as a work shop. Your pole barn will be a HOT tropical rain forest in the summer and frozen with ice crystals in winter if you don't insulate. The metal sheeting will magnify the heat and cold making it much hotter inside in summer and much colder inside in winter. Your pole barn will be unbearable to enter at times in the summer. You'll have a constant drip due to condensation that will damage your barn and its contents. The insulation must be a reflective insulation + radiant barrier + vapor barrier to handle the unique demands of a steel building kit. Click for pole barn kit insulation.
