- Fibrous insulation between the rafters
- Wood strapping insulation
- Drywall
Installation Method:
- Be sure the fibrous insulation is well installed between the rafters.
- Staple your insulation - facing the rafters without overlapping it. Insulation should be unrolled the same direction as the rafters are, so that you can seal the seams on rigid surface. Seal all the seams with aluminum tape.
- Install the wood strapping and the drywall following the manufacturers' recommendations.
If applying two layers of Prodex: Attach a ¾ - 1 inch furring/strapping over first layer and attach with staples the 2nd layer to the furring strip. This will allow for an air-gap between layers of insulation and improve performance. It is also acceptable to apply one or two layers or Prodex between the studs or one layer between the stud and the 2nd layer over the stud. The key is to ensure and air-gap between layers to optimize performance.
