How to install prodex insulation in a quonset hut

Use Glue (super metal sealant) and double sided tape to attach 1" x 3" furring/spacers the length of the building every 2 - 3 feet. Use Glue (super metal sealant) and double sided tape to attach the insulation to the spacer. The glue is your long-term hold while the double sided tape is your short-term hold. Run the insulation from the ground up and then back down to the ground. As a precautionary measure, use a screw with a big head, every four feet to reinforce the attachment of insulation into the furring.  In some cases the furing should be attached/screwed through from the top of the sheeting. Tape seams with reflective tape or use Prodex Fast Action  or 10 M to avoid seam tape.

How to install Prodex insulation in a quonset hut

A quonset hut requires a Radiant barrierVapor Barrier, and Reflective Insulation because of the unique nature of the metal arches. The sun's rays on the metal surface creates unbearable heat inside the building in the summer. Cold winter temperatures are exaggerated by the metal sheeting making it frigid inside. Warm temperature on a cool metal creates sweating (condensation). Prodex Total serves a true vapor barrier and condensation eliminator. It has a high R-value and it prevents radiant heat transfer (primary source of heat-flow). It's superior to fiberglass batt in quonset metal buildings because it is unaffected by humidity or water -- It doesn't mildew or promote fungus growth and it keeps the building cool in the summer -- It doesn't promote nesting for rodents, bugs and birds. It is also much easier and less expensive to install. It is superior to double bubble insulation in quonset buildings because the heat from the metal skin doesn't cause its polyethylene micro-bubbles to collapse. With a pressure of 6 PSI Prodex compresses just 6%. When the load is relieved it takes back its initial shape. The density of the foam is between 1.25 lb/ft (sq) - 1.87 lb/ft (sq). This gives the material real body. Quonset Hut Insulation - Why Choose Prodex? Independent Reviews at Site Jabber
