How To Insulate Walls

Prodex (New Install) Over Stud: 

  1. Staple or screw to affix insulation to wall before installing your studs.
  2. To improve performance, push insulation in to create air-gap (2+ inches).
  3. Tape seams with reflective tape or use 10M or Prodex Fast Action to avoid seam tape.
  4. Attach your drywall (optional)

One Layer Under Stud:  

  1. Screw or screw insulation to underside of purlins. 

Two Layers Over/Under Stud:  

  1. Staple or screw to affix insulation to wall before installing your studs.
  2. To improve performance, push insulation in to create air-gap (2+ inches).
  3. Tape seams with reflective tape or use 10M or Prodex Fast Action to avoid seam tape.
  4. Roll insulation perpendicular to and over studs.
  5. Tape seams with reflective tape or use 10M or Prodex Fast Action to avoid seam tape.
  6. Screw or staple insulation to underside of purlins. 

Two Layers - One Layer Between and One Layer Under Studs:  

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple one layer of Prodex 24 Inch or 16 Inch insulation between studs.
  2. Staple or screw larger roll (Prodex 48 Inch, Fast Action, 62 Inch Fast Action, 10M, 72 Inch, White or Rustic) under stud. 

One Layer Under Stud plus Drywall:  

  1. Staple or screw  insulation to underside of studs.
  2. Push insulation into cavity to create 2+ inch air-gap.
  3. Attach drywall.

Two Layers Between/Under Stud with Furring and Drywall:  

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of Prodex 24 Inch or 16 Inch insulation between studs.
  2. Staple or screw larger roll (Prodex 48 Inch, Fast Action, 62 Inch Fast Action, 10M, 72 Inch, White or Rustic) under stud.
  3. Attach 1 inch lathe board (furring strip) through underside of insulation.
  4. Attach drywall.

One Layer Between Studs:

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of Prodex 24 Inch or 16 Inch insulation between studs.
