How To Insulate Basement Walls - Options

Insulation Direct on Cement Wall, Under Stud plus drywall

  1. Use double-sided tape and super metal sealant to attach Prodex to the cement wall.
  2. Tape seams with reflective tape or use 10M or Prodex Fast Action
  3. Staple, screw or use super metal sealant to place the insulation underside of the studs.
  4. To enhance performance, push the insulation inside the cavity to create an air-gap of 1 or more inches.
  5. Attach drywall.

  1. Staple, screw or use super metal sealant to place the insulation underside of the studs.

  2. Staple or screw larger roll (Prodex 48 Inch, Fast Action, 62 Inch Fast Action, 10M, 72 Inch, White or Rustic) under stud.

Two Layers, One Between and One Under Stud with furring and Drywall


  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of Prodex 24 Inch or 16 Inch insulation between studs.
  2. Staple or screw larger roll (Prodex 48 Inch, Fast Action, 62 Inch Fast Action, 10M, 72 Inch, White or Rustic) under stud.
  3. Attach 1 inch lathe board (furring strip) through the insulation into the stud.
  4. Attach drywall.
